Affiliate Disclosure

Some articles on FFmpeg Cookbook contain affiliate links. This page explains how they work and how they relate — and do not relate — to what we publish.

1. What an affiliate link is

An affiliate link is a tracked link. If you buy a product after clicking one, we may receive a referral commission from the vendor or from an affiliate network.

The commission is paid by the vendor out of their own margin. You pay the same price you would have paid going to the vendor directly.

2. How disclosures appear

Every article containing affiliate links shows a labelled disclosure box above the article body, before any link appears. Individual product cards also carry an "AD" badge.

All affiliate links use rel="sponsored nofollow noopener", so they are identified as paid links to search engines as well as to readers.

3. Programs we participate in

Currently active on Japanese-language articles: A8.net and the Amazon.co.jp Associates Program. Those offers are not shown on English pages, because they are Japan-only.

Planned for English-language articles, and not yet active: vendor-direct software affiliate programs, affiliate networks such as Impact, Awin, ShareASale and CJ, and Amazon Associates (US). Until each of those is approved, English articles carry no third-party affiliate links at all.

This section is updated when a program goes live. If you are reading an English article that shows a disclosure box, the links on that page are active affiliate links.

4. How we choose what to link

A product is only linked if it meets all of the following:

• It genuinely solves the task the article is about
• It is not placed to push readers away from something FFmpeg already does well
• It is chosen for fit with the article, not for commission rate

This site exists to show how to do things with FFmpeg. We mention commercial software only where a reader has a real reason to want it — a GUI, a time saving, or a task FFmpeg handles poorly. The free FFmpeg method always stays in the article.

5. Editorial independence

Commissions do not influence our conclusions, benchmarks, or recommended commands. Where a product has real limitations, we say so, whether or not the link earns us anything.

No vendor reviews, approves, or edits our content before publication.

6. Tracking and cookies

Clicking an affiliate link may allow the network or vendor to set a cookie in order to attribute the referral. Those cookies are controlled by the destination service, not by us. See our Privacy Policy for details.

7. Disclaimer

Prices, features, and availability are set by the vendor and can change at any time. Always check the vendor's own page before purchasing. Any purchase is a contract between you and the vendor; we are not a party to it.
